The impact of encouragement is incredible! I remember encouragements that I have received recently and over the course of my journey. For many people a tipping point in their life was a word of encouragement. In my work as a teacher, executive director, parent, spouse, or counselor, I am aware that encouragement may be the most powerful gift I can give someone to help them over a hump, to get from here to there, to achieve a challenging goal, or to address an anxiety or depression.
Encouragement is a leadership skill that truly wants others to succeed. In my ebook, The Supervisor’s “E” List, www.gettothepointbooks.com, I note that employees are motivated when they sense that their supervisor has their best interests at heart and that encouragement is rooted in the supervisor’s affirmation of their potential. In addition to being powerful, encouragement may be the easiest leader behavior to express. And, oh, oh, when we encourage others, it feels so good.
I encourage you. Perhaps you need to keep on doing your main thing. Perhaps you need to get out of that comfort zone. Perhaps you need keep pushing. Perhaps you need to take a step back. Whatever. I encourage you and I hope you will be aware of those who cross your path that you can encourage. Encouraging others and being encouraged by them builds quality of life for all.
